We didn't make it down to Lemoore for qualifying day due to a family emergency. All turned out well and we started scratch Saturday for the 50 lap main. Passed a lot of cars and ended up 7th. The goal was a top 10, and to keep it in one piece. We got both so it turned out to be a good weekend.
The opening race of the season was a difficult one for us. Anything and everything went wrong. I believe 37 cars signed in Friday night. Fast time was 10.93, and I believe my fastest lap was 11.24, only good enough for 18th quick. This goes to show how fast the competition is at Plaza. We had to run the semi-main and barely made the last transfer spot. We made the main, started in the last position (22nd), stayed out of trouble and finished in 9th. Hopefully Race #2 will go a little smoother....
The car was plagued with carburetor and fuel pump problems all night long. We were never able to finish a race because the motor wouldn’t run. It was a disappointing end to our trip...
My first race since Sept. ‘07. I landed a ride in Terry Kershaw’s ‘07 Stallard 600. The car was fast all night long, and everything was pointing in the direction of a top 3 finish. However, the carburetors slipped out of the boots in the main event while I was passing for 4th place.
